Election authorities have completed the latest electoral roll revision, revealing significant changes in voter registrations. Gujarat recorded the deletion of 68,12,711 names from its electoral list, part of standard verification procedures aimed at maintaining accurate voter records.
The total number of electors in the state decreased from 5,08,43,436 to 4,40,30,725, reflecting a net change of 13.40%. Authorities stated that deletions were primarily due to ineligible entries, including cases of death, permanent migration, duplicate registrations, and other statutory reasons identified during field verification.
These revisions are part of efforts to enhance the integrity of voter databases and ensure that electoral rolls reflect only eligible and active voters.
Updates in Lakshadweep Electoral Roll
In the revision exercise, Lakshadweep witnessed a minor reduction of 206 names from its electoral list. The number of electors declined from 57,813 to 57,607, marking a net change of 0.36%.
Authorities emphasized that the deletions were carried out under standard verification guidelines to remove ineligible or duplicate entries and ensure an accurate electoral database.
Electoral Roll Revision Across Other Regions
The revision process also affected other states and union territories as part of nationwide efforts to maintain clean voter lists. Authorities noted that the exercise aims to eliminate discrepancies and uphold the integrity of the electoral system.
Regions such as Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Goa also recorded changes in voter counts due to verification procedures. These updates reflect routine administrative measures rather than irregularities.
