Uttarakhand will proudly present its special tableau themed “Self-Reliant Uttarakhand” at Bharat Parv, scheduled from January 26 to 31 at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. The tableau highlights the State’s journey towards self-reliance, promoting local artisans, traditional crafts, and cultural heritage while aligning with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Tableau Highlights and Cultural Representation
During a press conference organized by the Ministry of Defence at the National Stadium Camp, New Delhi, the tableaus of different States and ministries were introduced to the media. Uttarakhand’s tableau emphasizes the skill and dedication of its artisan community.
The front section of the tableau features copper replicas of traditional musical instruments like Dhol and Ransingha, reflecting the State’s rich cultural roots. A large copper Manjira is also displayed, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship of local artisans.
The middle section presents traditional copper utensils such as Gagar, Surahi, and Kundi, symbolizing daily life in Uttarakhand across generations. Side panels further highlight traditional musical instruments, adding depth to the cultural narrative.
The rear section portrays a lifelike figure of a copper artisan at work, demonstrating the handcrafted techniques passed down through generations. This depiction emphasizes the hard work, skill, and dignity of the artisan community while illustrating the economic significance of traditional crafts.
Focus on Self-Reliance and Local Skills
According to K S Chauhan, Joint Director of the Information Department and nodal officer for the tableau, the display sends a strong message about self-reliance, local skills, and respect for traditional knowledge. It highlights how traditional crafts are not only cultural heritage but also a source of livelihood for many families in Uttarakhand.
The tableau beautifully blends art, culture, and economic empowerment, making it a proud representation of the State at Bharat Parv.
