Delhi Education Minister Denies Teachers Assigned to Count Stray Dogs

Ashish Sood Challenges AAP to Provide Proof

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday dismissed claims that school teachers were tasked with counting stray dogs in the city. He accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of spreading misinformation and challenged the party to produce any official circular supporting their claims.

“If there is any official order directing teachers to count stray dogs, share it publicly. Otherwise, an apology is expected,” Sood said.

Social Media Campaign Fuelling the Controversy

Minister Points to Online Amplification

Sood noted that the issue is being amplified on social media platforms rather than raised through real-world channels. According to him, the narrative seems to be driven by political opponents dissatisfied with recent election results.

“Those who cannot accept their electoral defeat are resorting to online lies instead of constructive dialogue,” the minister added.

Allegations of Administrative Confusion

Opposition Criticised for Spreading Unverified Claims

The minister further accused AAP of creating unnecessary confusion in government administration. He referred to recent claims concerning action against tehsildars and sub-registrars, questioning why the opposition consistently defends officials under scrutiny.

“Why does AAP always side with those facing accountability?” he asked.

Revisiting Previous Controversies

Santa Claus School Directive

Sood also reminded the public of a prior controversy where AAP leaders claimed that government orders restricted students from attending school dressed as Santa Claus. He highlighted that no such order existed, challenging the party to provide evidence.

“They claimed a directive was issued. Where is it?” he questioned.

Public Concern and Teachers’ Response

Dog Counting Claims Trigger Reactions

The controversy started after AAP leaders suggested that teachers were being diverted from their primary duties to count stray dogs. This triggered concern among parents, teachers, and education stakeholders, prompting the minister’s strong rebuttal.

Clarification on Recruitment Issues

DSSSB Recruitment Row

Sood also addressed confusion over the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB), claiming that no fresh recruitments were initiated during AAP’s tenure. He accused the party of continuing to spread misleading information about recruitment processes.

Minister Calls for Facts, Not Misinformation

The Delhi government maintains that no circular exists assigning teachers to stray dog counting duties. Sood urged political parties to base discussions on verified facts instead of social media narratives, emphasizing accountability in public communication.
