A serious security lapse occurred at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport when a British national, identified as Fitz Patrick, escaped from the immigration area and entered the city during a layover on October 28, 2025.
UK Passenger Escapes During Transit
According to officials, Fitz Patrick was being deported to London from Bangkok, with a stopover in New Delhi. While completing immigration formalities, he allegedly slipped out of the restricted area and managed to evade airport security checks before leaving the premises undetected.
Authorities Launch Search Operation
Following the incident, a massive search operation has been initiated by the Delhi Police, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and the Bureau of Immigration to locate the missing UK national. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to trace his movements and identify security gaps that allowed his escape.
FIR Filed and Staff Under Investigation
An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered in connection with the incident. Airline staff and other concerned personnel are being interrogated to determine whether negligence or procedural failure contributed to the breach.
A senior police officer stated that joint probe teams are working to find out how the deportee managed to bypass surveillance and exit the airport, calling it a major failure of airport security protocols.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have assured that corrective measures will be taken after the investigation concludes to prevent such incidents in the future. This case has raised serious concerns about immigration security and passenger monitoring at one of India’s busiest airports.
