Chipsan Aviation, a leading non-scheduled air operator, announced its plans to expand its fleet by adding two Airbus H160 helicopters during Aero India 2025. This move reinforces the company’s position as a pioneer in bringing advanced aviation technology to India.
First to Introduce H160 for Commercial Operations in India
Sunil Narayanan and Daisy Cherian, Founders of Chipsan Aviation Pvt Ltd, shared their excitement about the new additions. “We are proud to be the first operator in India to bring the H145 for commercial use. Now, we take responsibility to introduce the sophisticated H160 for the first time in India for commercial operations,” they said.
Meeting VIP and Corporate Needs
The first two H160 helicopters will cater to VIP and corporate travel, ensuring premium service standards. However, the company’s plans extend beyond luxury services.
Lakshadweep Connectivity and Offshore Missions
Chipsan Aviation aims to enhance connectivity between Lakshadweep Islands and the mainland with these new inductions by the end of 2025. Additionally, the helicopters will play a significant role in offshore energy transportation, supporting India’s growing energy sector.
First Indian Operator to Lease H160s
In 2024, the company leased two H160 helicopters from GD Helicopter Finance, receiving the first delivery in December 2024. This milestone made Chipsan Aviation the first Indian operator to lease the H160 model.
Multi-Role Capabilities of the H160
The Airbus H160, known for its versatility, is designed to handle multiple missions such as:
- Offshore energy transportation
- VIP and business aviation
- Emergency medical services (EMS)
- Search and rescue operations
- Law enforcement
“The H160 is Airbus’ next-generation helicopter, already operational in several configurations worldwide,” said Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters in India and South Asia.
Chipsan’s Current Operations
Currently, Chipsan Aviation operates a fleet of six Airbus helicopters, including:
- Two H145s
- Two H135s
- Two H130s
The company operates from Delhi, Cochin, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, providing diverse aviation solutions across India.
