Tragedy struck in Odisha’s capital city when a young nurse was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the bathroom of a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, just hours before she planned to travel home for Raksha Bandhan.
Incident Details
The nurse, who was on duty at the time, was discovered with a needle inserted in the back of her hand. According to her brother, police suspect she may have injected a substance that led to her death.
However, the family has raised serious questions about the hospital’s role. They allege there was a two-hour delay in informing them after her body was found.
Family’s Statement
Her brother told NDTV: “We were first told she was found unconscious in the bathroom. Later, police said they found a syringe in her hand, suggesting suicide. I don’t know of any personal or professional problems that could push her to such a step.”
He added that they had recently spoken on the phone, and she was excited to return to Ganjam district after work to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with her family.
Police Investigation
The Bhubaneswar police have launched a multi-angle investigation, exploring possibilities such as:
-
Accidental death
-
Health-related complications
-
Workplace harassment
-
Family or relationship issues
CCTV footage from the hospital is being reviewed, and staff members are being questioned. Police personnel have been deployed at the hospital to maintain order.
