India’s Stance on Ceasefire Questioned; US Sticks to Neutral Peace Message

At a recent US State Department briefing, a journalist tried to question whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi had refused to support peace talks between India and Pakistan. The reporter suggested that while Pakistan welcomed the ceasefire efforts led by former US President Donald Trump, India did not support them.

US Spokesperson Stays Focused on Peace

In response, Tommy Pigott, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, avoided directly addressing the reporter’s claims. Instead, he emphasized that the United States is focused on maintaining the ceasefire.

“Our focus is on the ceasefire. We support direct communication between India and Pakistan and encourage both countries to stay on the path of peace,” Pigott said.

Trump Seen as Peace Mediator by Pakistan

The reporter claimed Pakistan believed Donald Trump deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for helping reduce tensions in Kashmir. Pigott responded by calling Trump a “peacemaker and dealmaker”, highlighting his commitment to ending global conflicts.

“He values peace and has proven that through his actions,” Pigott noted.

Questions Raised About Israeli Drones and Operation Sindoor

The journalist also questioned whether the use of Israeli-made drones by India in Operation Sindoor could affect relations between Pakistan and Israel. He referenced Trump’s role in the Abraham Accords, suggesting these actions might complicate his peace vision.

Pigott did not address the drone issue directly but repeated that Washington’s only concern is the ceasefire and ongoing dialogue between the two countries.

India’s Version of Ceasefire Talks

While Trump’s team claimed they helped arrange the ceasefire, India clarified that the Pakistani DGMO had reached out to their Indian counterpart requesting an immediate truce. This came after India’s strong military response, which reportedly pushed Pakistan to seek de-escalation.

Pakistan’s Use of Misinformation and Foreign Weapons

Sources indicate that Pakistan has been spreading false narratives to shift global opinion. They have attempted to raise concerns over India’s Israeli drones, despite Pakistan deploying advanced foreign-made weapons, including:

  • Chinese PL-15 missiles
  • Turkish Byker Yiha and Asisguard Songar drones
  • Long-range rockets
  • Chinese J-10C fighter jets

These developments highlight Pakistan’s double standards, while trying to portray itself as a victim on the world stage.
