In a shocking incident, a 39-year-old man has been arrested in Central Delhi for allegedly raping his 72-year-old mother twice. Police said the accused committed the crime to “punish” her over a suspected past affair.
Complaint Filed After Daughter’s Intervention
According to the police, the elderly woman initially remained silent due to fear and shame. Later, she shared the ordeal with her daughter, who convinced her to file a police complaint. The case was officially registered on Saturday, leading to the son’s arrest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan confirmed the arrest and stated, “The accused is a graduate and currently unemployed. Further investigation is underway.”
Background of the Case
The woman lives with her husband, son, and daughter in Central Delhi. Police said she had recently travelled with her husband and daughter on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
During that period, the accused allegedly called his father and claimed that his mother had a “bad character,” insisting that his father should divorce her.
Assault Incidents in August
According to the FIR, the woman was first assaulted on August 1 after returning from the trip. Shocked by the attack, she moved temporarily to her elder daughter’s house.
On August 11, she returned home. That night, the accused asked to speak to her privately and allegedly raped her at knifepoint inside a room. Terrified, the woman stayed silent.
Police further revealed that three days later, the accused repeated the crime.
Ongoing Investigation
The police have charged the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rape and criminal intimidation. Officials confirmed that the victim is receiving medical and legal support, while the accused remains in custody.
